Sticky Messages
A sticky message stays at the bottom of a channel. When people post, Sparrow posts it again below them and removes the old copy. Use it for rules, instructions or a link people need to see.
Setting it up
- Open Sticky Messages in the dashboard and press + Create Sticky Message.
- On the Settings tab, give it a name and pick a channel.
- On the Message tab, write the message.
- Press Save Changes. Sparrow posts it within about 15 seconds.
Each channel can have one sticky message. Add one to as many channels as you like.
When it's posted again
Messages before it's posted again sets how often. With 1, Sparrow posts it again after every message. With a higher number, like 5, it waits for 5 new messages first, which suits busy channels. The count starts again after each post.
Sparrow waits a couple of seconds after the last message, so a quick burst of messages gets one repost instead of one each. It posts the new copy first, then removes the old one, so the channel always has it.
The message
Choose Text, Embed or Components V2. The preview shows how it looks. A sticky message never pings anyone, even if it has a mention in it.
These placeholders are filled in when it's posted:
| Placeholder | Becomes |
|---|---|
{server} | The server name. |
{membercount} | The server's member count. |
{channel} | The channel it's in. |
{servericon} | The server icon. Use it as an image or thumbnail. |
Member placeholders like {user} don't work here, since a sticky message isn't about one member. They're shown as typed. See where placeholders work.
Other options
| Option | What it does |
|---|---|
| Enabled | Turn it off to remove it from the channel and stop posting it. Turn it on again to post it straight away. |
| Reaction | One emoji Sparrow adds to each post. |
| Delete | Deletes the sticky message and removes its copy from the channel. |
Good to know
- Sparrow needs View Channel and Send Messages in the channel, and Add Reactions if you set a reaction.
- If a post fails, the list shows Last post failed with the reason, like a missing permission.
- Changes you save show in the channel within about 15 seconds.
Free servers & Premium
Free servers can have 3 sticky messages. Premium has no limit, and can post it again every few messages instead of after every message.
